The Masterplan
The illustrative masterplan outlines our vision to create a vibrant, connected community that benefits both existing Banwell residents and new residents. With greenspace, wellbeing, and nature at its core, our design aims to build a sustainable community for future generations. The plan provides an idea of how the development could take shape, and we welcome your feedback on the masterplan.

The Local Centre
Part of the local centre for the wider Wolvershill new settlement is located within Bloor Homes’ proposed development and would offer a range of amenities that will benefit and serve the local community. This is expected to include:
a mobility hub
community building
convenience store and other retail uses
flexible working space
later living accommodation
generous areas of public realm
space for local markets
The following images provide references for how different spaces within the local centre could appear.
Education
A new 2 form entry primary school is proposed in the heart of a new community and within walking/cycling distance from the surrounding development.
The primary school offers outdoor sport facilities which are proposed to be available outside of school hours to the public. Sports provision includes two junior pitches and a mini pitch. In addition, the wider school site can accommodate future expansion of the school to a 3 form entry.

Greenspace
Green space is a priority in our plan, with over 60 hectares of open parkland. We know how important nature is in daily life, so we’ve included tree-lined streets with rain gardens and planted areas. There will be allotments, parkland, and spaces for conservation. Wildlife walkways, dark corridors, and woodland areas are also planned to help local wildlife thrive and boost biodiversity.

New homes and character areas
The proposed development will include up to 1,300 new homes with a mix of house types and tenures.
The residential areas will be formed by four character areas, each of which will have its own distinct identity, providing a range of options to suit the needs of the community. The areas are:
Wolvershill Gateway
Silvermoor Neighbourhood
Moorland Neighbourhood
Mendip Gateway
Wolvershill Gateway
This character area will form the northern gateway to the Wolvershill new settlement taking access and its name from Wolvershill Road. It boasts the opportunity to establish a distinct identity with a softer and more rural appearance achieved through a reduced density and informal green open spaces.
Silvermoor Neighbourhood
Silvermoor Lane and existing farmhouse dwellings will be retained features of this character area. Respecting these retained features with a considered material palette and changing plotting style to achieve this. Green corridors will separate this area from Moorland to the south and Wolvershill Gateway to the north.
Moorland Neighbourhood
Taking its name from the Moorland Rhyne along the eastern boundary of the site. Two distinct green corridors separated this area from the Mendip Gateway and Silvermoor. There is opportunity for blue infrastructure to be incorporated such as swales. A new primary school forms the eastern vista of the parcel which in turn formalises the character area.
Mendip Gateway
The Mendip Gateway will form the entrance to the Wolvershill new settlement from the south via the new bypass. Its proximity to Banwell Village offers the opportunity to incorporate a material palette that respects Banwell while also establishing distinction between the two by utilising a contemporary architectural style in conjunction with the Local Centre. The Mendip Gateway will be a formal structure and a higher density.
